The General Manager position typically reports to a Vice President within a business segment.The General Manager is responsible for a site, or potentially for a number of sites within a country (typically 50 members and/or $35M revenue or less). This position is responsible for the overall administration; effective day-to-day operation and financial performance against plan of the location(s). Provides local supervision, guidance and/or coordination to all functions within the location(s) (e.g. Engineering, Sales, Finance, Human Resources, etc.).
Functional strategic direction may come from a matrixed leader in charge of the specific function for the business unit. The GM is the primary authority for the site/country. The position represents our overall in the assigned location/country, but must collaborate with other key representatives/leaders from other business segments at the location (e.g. Segment Leader) and within the business segments outside the location to ensure success and achievement of desired results.
Responsible for driving the overall financial performance against plan for the site (e.g. earnings, cash flow, receivables, inventory, payables, capital expenditures), working effectively across a matrixed organization and in collaboration with multiple business segments.
Provides day-to-day leadership, guidance and/or coordination of all functions at the site level. May directly manage key site-based centralized departments or support services such as: Quality, Human Resources, Accounting, IT, Facilities/Grounds Maintenance, etc. Ensures that processes to run the business are in place.
Focuses on the execution of strategies to effectively and efficiently achieve desired business results for the location(s).
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing and Product Development to synchronize front-end and new product introduction with operations planning and production where manufacturing exists.
Coordinates with other GM's to share resources and implement best practices within like sites.
Ensures company policies, procedures and legal requirements are followed and in compliance.
Has legal signing authority for the location and is recognized by local authorities of having legal responsibilities within the location.
Has responsibility for driving business strategies for us in their country. This activity crosses all market segments. It is a two way activity ensuring the strategies of each business segment are understood, and each business segment understands the drivers and opportunities in the region.
Serves as a resource to all business segments.
Ensures all site governance activities are coordinated and implemented effectively.
Articulates and leads 'Why our company'. He/she is the embodiment of Woodward in his/her location(s). Leads retention, drives compliance and processes to ensure results. Leads our top-level strategies and processes such as WLES, PLC, etc. across assigned location(s).
Collaborate with Segment Leaders within the site, as appropriate, to execute and drive strategies.
Contributes significantly as a resource in new business development.
May have functional responsibilities in addition to General Management for the site (e.g. Engineering, Operations, Sales).
Strong Japanese communication skill is essential. 日本語でのコミュニケーション能力必須（N2以上）
Ability to coach and develop others, as well as identifying and developing potential succession planning candidates.

Understands PLC, LEAN/Six Sigma tools and application, quality systems and requirements.

Ability to work within a matrix organization.
Education or Formal Training:
Bachelor of Science or completed University Degree in a business or technical discipline.
Exposure to Six Sigma quality tools
Written and verbal fluency in both English and local regional language.
Minimum of 5 years previous leadership experience.
Minimum 7 years of related experience in energy or aerospace industry.
Multi-functional background desired.
