This position will take an active role in development of Sourcing & Procurement strategies for his/her areas of responsibility & categories, working closely with key local stakeholders and Sourcing & Procurement colleagues within the region - as well as in the global category leaders. He/she will also serve as Global Supplier Management Group (GSMG) country lead to drive synergies and talent development cross GSMG and within the Company KK/Japan organization. Key responsibilities include advancing the function in Japan, enhance relationships with key Country based stakeholders and senior management, country Sourcing category management, country Procurement operating strategy development and execution for all categories, while maintaining a strong alignment to global and regional Sourcing strategies through the global operating framework. He/she will provide leadership and direction for specific country Procurement activities including the support of business unit(s) operating and strategic plans. Represents Global Sourciing & Procurement locally, understanding & participate in global supply strategy councils to implement global and regional sourcing initiatives locally and leads local Sourcing teams focused on improvements in AQSCI for Local spend categories. He/she needs to own all country and key regional functional KPIs, including key people development and engagement objectives Key Responsibilities: Primary activities, but not limited to: •Category Scope – Develops sourcing strategies for all categories and drive local projects in Japan. Participate in or providing inputs into global supply strategy councils so Japan requirements and unique conditions are correctly captured & addressed. Actively liaises with the global and Region to ensure country spend is managed in line with agreed sourcing strategies. May be called to lead category activities, strategy development, as needed. •Global Operating Framework: Participates within Global Operating Framework with agreed RACI framework to develop and implement Global/ Regional /Local sourcing plans •Sourcing Rigor – In alignment with Global and Regional strategy, uses the Sourcing Management Process (SMP) and Source Recommendation Committee (SRC) to manage assurance of supply, quality, service, cost, innovation and regulatory compliance within Japan, which optimize value while ensuring appropriate risk management. Understands the SRC and SMP requirements and how to apply required tools in creating and executing source plans. •Proactive Cost Management: Achieves cost control, cost reduction, and cost containment targets, and adds value to area of expenditure through a strong total cost orientation. •Supplier Relationship Management and Conditioning: Assists in evaluating potential suppliers on country specific issues. Is familiar with the various suppliers and product lines available in stakeholder areas. Responsible for building relationships with Local suppliers and managing supplier performance against business requirements using proven processes; ensures adequate inclusion of diversity suppliers in RFPs and contracts as applicable. And strong supplier performance monitoring via regular established business review with stakeholders, and concrete issue resolution. •Stakeholder Management and Business Sponsorship: Assists in analysing customer’s business and evaluate if there are potential savings through supplier consolidation. Engages assigned stakeholders and partners with them across divisions to define and meet or exceed business requirements and identify and manage profit plan savings targets. Understands strategic business requirements at 1-3-5 year horizon. •Contract Negotiation and Management: Once strategy is approved, personally leads the sourcing including RFX, RFP negotiations and contracting to put in place the right supplier cross all categories. •People Management: Responsible for selection, development, retention, and performance management of country Procurement personnel. And be part of strong Asia Procurement leadership team to develop talents across the region. |
